Jonathon Garfitt's Velocipede

Quite how Jonathon managed to persuade his tutors at the traditional boatbuilding course he was attending that a foam sandwich Cherub was an appropriate last year project I don't know. However, persuade them he did, and this is the results. Hand layup, carbon over foam, built 1998/9.

Building Jig frames laid out ready for assembly.
Frames in place, starting on the process of adding battens.
This is a jig for a non-vacuum bag layup. Plenty of battens to keep the shape right.
Here the foam has been wired onto the jig and glued together. The initial layer of filler is being put onto the underside of the hull.
Outer (carbon) skin in place.
Bare shell flopped off the jig and ready for the inner skin.
Boat complete except for foredeck. Note the internal space frame for the rig loads.
Time to get the spray gun out...
