Jonathon Garfitt's Velocipede
Quite how Jonathon managed to persuade his tutors at the traditional
boatbuilding course he was attending that a foam sandwich Cherub
was an appropriate last year project I don't know. However, persuade
them he did, and this is the results. Hand layup, carbon over
foam, built 1998/9.

Building Jig frames laid out ready for assembly. |
Frames in place, starting on the process of adding battens. |
This is a jig for a non-vacuum bag layup. Plenty of battens
to keep the shape right. |
Here the foam has been wired onto the jig and glued together.
The initial layer of filler is being put onto the underside of
the hull. |
Outer (carbon) skin in place. |
Bare shell flopped off the jig and ready for the inner skin. |
Boat complete except for foredeck. Note the internal space
frame for the rig loads. |

Time to get the spray gun out... |
